Yappy Hour runs from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb 14th in Center Court. For a $5 donation to the Gulf Coast Humane Society, pet owners can enter their dog into a costume contest reflecting the love theme.

Bell Tower, Southwest Florida’s dog-friendly shopping, dining and entertainment destination, holds Yappy Hour on the second Friday of each month. Yappy Hour is the area's largest pet-friendly social hour, providing an evening of fun for pet lovers and their four-legged friends.

Throughout Yappy Hour, visitors will have an opportunity to stop by dog-friendly sponsor stations and meet adoptable dogs from the Gulf Coast Humane Society.

Barky Pines Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, with Leadership Palm Beach County, is excited to announce its inaugural Puppy Love 5K Fun Run/Walk event.

Participants running or walking with their pets will begin at 8 a.m. The cost to participate in the 5K will be $25 if registered before February 1. Afterwards, the cost will increase to $35 per person. There are also virtual and group registration options. All registrations include a shirt and participation medal. Grand Marshal, Royal Palm Beach Councilwoman Selena Samios, will kick off the 5K at 7:30 a.m. joined by special guest Miss Florida United States 2019 Carla Erskine. Pet adoptions, a variety of exhibitors, kids’ activities, DJ and more! In conjunction with the event, Barky Pines will be conducting a supply drive. For each supply donated, guests will be entered to win raffle prizes. Supplies needed by Barky Pines include pee pads, cleaning supplies, large dog bowls, small dog beds, small dog harnesses and leashes and farm  animal feed.   __________________________________

In this class, Adam DiNuovo of Audubon Florida will discuss the life history of these birds and the amazing journeys many of them make annually. Winter shorebirds are notoriously difficult to ID, so practicing the skills learned in this class is essential. You will learn how to use plumage, size, and behavior to help with id.

The microchips are funded by a grant provided by PetSmart Charities® to help protect pets and increase their chances of getting back home in case they become lost. The GFAS and TAA accredited 501(c)(3) nonprofit works with the county and responds 24/7 to local law enforcement to investigate cruelty and abandonment cases, and to seize and care for those victims at its Homestead, FL facility.  SFSPCA is the only organization qualified to rescue, rehabilitate, retrain and rehome horses in Miami-Dade.

The organization works diligently at creating a more kind, just and loving community for the pets and people of Miami-Dade County. We offer programs and services to educate, inform and inspire people to take responsible care of their pets and treat animals with the kindness they deserve. With the support of people from across Miami-Dade County, we are helping to create a better community for all.

We run two veterinary clinics, one in North Miami Beach and another in Cutler Bay where we strive to end our community’s pet overpopulation problem by performing more than 16,000 sterilization surgeries each year.

Big Cat Rescue is an animal sanctuary in Tampa devoted to rescuing and housing exotic felids, rehabilatating injured or orphaned native wild cats, and ending the private trade and ownership of exotic cats via educational outreach and legislation. The sanctuary is located on 55 acres (22 ha) in Citrus Park, Florida.[2] It receives approximately 25,000 visitors per year.[3] Big Cat Rescue began operating in 1992, and bills itself as "the largest accredited sanctuary in the world dedicated entirely to abused and abandoned big cats."  Save the Manatee Club is an award-winning national nonprofit 501(c)(3) and membership-based organization established in 1981 by renowned singer and songwriter, Jimmy Buffett, and former U.S. Senator, Bob Graham, when he was governor of Florida.

Pack Walk in the Park (group dog walk) is an opportunity to get some exercise (for you and your dog) and socialize with other dog owners (non-dog owners are welcome, too!). The Tampa Police Department "employs" 22 police K-9's from six breeds trained in criminal captures, search and rescue, narcotic searches and bomb detection. The dogs go through an initial training program and are recertified each year through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

In fact, the K-9's live with their human partners and when they retire, they spend their golden years relaxing with their handler. 

The Tampa Police Departments K-9 Unit is dedicated to the apprehension of criminal suspects. Its handler and dog team search capabilities are a valuable resource to street officers and to the community to which they serve.

ONE MORE DAY was born in 2016 to give back to dogs for all they give to us. One More Day fospice dogs come from shelters and rescue groups and each dog is a beloved individual. But they all have one thing in common: life-limiting illness. 

Despite this, they are not suffering yet. They still have some life left to live and to enjoy, and that makes them candidates for hospice.

Read with a Dog: Children may read a book with certified therapy dog to help them build their confidence and improve their reading skills. Certified therapy dogs visit six different branch libraries throughout the month.

The Library District is a centralized system consisting of a Headquarters library, branch libraries, and outreach services such as bookmobiles. Every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the Month.

At Florida Animal Control Association Conference, We offered 3 full tracks, over 2 and a half days, to ensure that were truly had something for everyone. Our attendees were mostly animal control officers and law enforcement officers, but we also welcomed a variety of shelter workers, agency administrators, veterinarians, and attorneys. In addition to the standard CEU's made available by FACA, all conference sessions had also been pre-approved for Certified Animal Welfare Administrator continuing education credits by The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement.

Florida Association of Animal Welfare Organizations (FAAWO) is a non-profit membership organization of dedicated animal advocates working together to positively impact animals throughout the state of Florida. Our goal is to offer assistance, exchange ideas and support our colleagues in the compassionate work of saving lives. By uniting our voices on important issues, we can affect change on local and state levels.

North Florida VegFest will include speakers, cooking demos, food vendors, healthy living and eco-friendly vendors, animal sanctuaries, non-profits, kids activities, free yoga, and free vegan food samples!

The Florida Chapter of The Wildlife Society Spring Meeting & Conference 

The Florida Chapter of The Wildlife Society will hold its annual Spring Meeting.

The conference theme is Managing Florida’s Coastal Resources, but papers and posters dealing with any wildlife-related topic are encouraged, including ecology, economics, management, restoration, risk assessment, policy, evolutionary biology, and interdisciplinary projects. Continuing education credits will be offered for the meeting. Social events will include a networking social on Wednesday, poster session mixer, and the popular awards ceremony banquet dinner on Thursday. There will be a special pre-conference scavenger hunt by kayak on Wednesday morning. Friday includes your choice of three concurrent activities: a workshop on the use of 3D printing for science or one of two field trips to local natural areas.

Underwater and outdoor enthusiasts, eco­travelers and families are encouraged to celebrate the marine environment at Mote Marine Laboratory's annual event, Mote’s Ocean Fest: A Community Celebration. Proceeds and donations from the festival support Mote Marine Laboratory’s coral reef restoration and research programs. The family ­friendly fun will take place Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary's Eco-Discovery Center and Truman Waterfront (35 E Quay Rd, Key West, FL 33040) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Join us for a day of fun, crafts, games, music, food, and shopping as we showcase our treasured marine environment while raising money for coral reef research and restoration.
